“Kristo”: A Lenten Art Exhibit is now on its second year in Iloilo City. This project is brought to the Ilonggos by the Iloilo Visual Artists Collective and Museo Iloilo. Participated by fifty seven Ilonggo artists, this art in faith exhibition offers the Ilonggos an alternative venue to reflect and renew their spiritual vows through the form of visual arts.
The artworks embody the Ilonggo artists’ unique interpretation of their “Kristo” through their strokes, colors, and textures in their paintings and sculptures, giving their audience a different feel of Christ’s Passion. The artists wish to curate more mediums next Lenten season such as photographs and installation arts among others.
The ‘Kristo’ exhibit opened last March 27, 2015 and runs until April 12, 2015 at Museo Iloilo.
The “Kristo” originated in Malolos Bulacan last 2001 as a part of a Filipino artist Salvador Ching’s yearly Lenten devotion. Yearly, he invited other artists with the same passion to present their reflections in the form of visual arts. In 2005, an art enthusiast Delan Robillos collaborated with Salvador Ching and brought “Kristo” to Manila, hence “Kristo Manila”.
